About Dragonball

What is Dragonball?

Dragonball is an exciting inclusive multi-skill sport for children of all ages and abilities.

It has a positive anti-bullying message making sure everyone is included. It’s designed to bring everyone together, whether using your hands or your feet, walking, running or in wheelchairs.

There’s no “you can’t play”, “you’re not good enough” or “we don’t want you on our team”. Dragonball is for everyone.

With two teams, two goals and seven balls in every game Dragonball is a multi-skill tactical sport for social and competitive teamwork, mental and physical wellbeing, fitness and entertainment.

Dragonball promotes self-belief, teamwork and communication skills. It gives the opportunity for individuals to work as a team developing strategies to pass the Dragonballs and score goals.

Where did Dragonball come from?

The team sport Dragonball was created by author JT Scott for the Sammy Rambles books. In the books Sammy Rambles and his friends play Dragonball riding on their own pet dragons and in real-life, the game has been adapted so children (and adults) can play.
“It was a throwaway comment from a friend who said “this would make a great game to play” that sparked the idea of seeing whether it was possible to turn the game in the book into a game in real-life and within a short space of time, Dragonball Sport was created.” – JT Scott
Working with friends in the sports world, Dragonball grew from an idea into reality. Starting small, the game evolved, rules were formalised, the Dragonball Coach and Player Handbook was created, more schools played, then it caught the imagination of the mainstream, Dragonball Sports Ltd was formed, and the rest is history!

The 7 Pillars of Dragonball

Behind the scenes there are Seven Pillars of Dragonball which coaches and teachers can use to measure a child’s involvement in playing Dragonball and officiating Dragonball games.
With emphasis on seven core life skills and values, the Seven Pillars are the foundation of Dragonball and they can be used to bring out the best in every Dragonball player. These values are echoed in the Sammy Rambles books where children can apply the values in the classroom as well as on the sports field.
The Seven Pillars are: Communication, Empathy, Respect, Self-Belief, Collaboration, Inclusive and Fun

Sammy Rambles

Sammy Rambles is a boy who goes from being bullied at school to making new friends and learning special skills to help save the dragon world. There are five books in the Sammy Rambles series written by author JT Scott.
Each book has a self-contained adventure that builds up in layers, developing the characters and relationships, promoting the life skills of resilience, self-belief and empowerment where seemingly insurmountable problems can be overcome.
These values are echoed in the Seven Pillars of Dragonball and children will use these skills in situations in everyday life.
“A tale of finding yourself and achieving great things, the Sammy Rambles series of books keep readers of any age hooked through the myriad of adventures. JT Scott is the modern-day fantasy author whose stories are being brought to life by youngsters in the classroom, sports hall and playgrounds around the world.”
